PISCATAWAY, NJ -- The foursome of Karen Cilento, Teresa Higgins, Sadie Mele and Rachael Abadie continued their record breaking weekend with another school mark in the 200 medley relay.
Mele on backstroke, Cilento as the breaststroker, Abadie on butterfly and Higgins on the freestyle anchor leg, the Highlanders set the new standard record at 1:58.86. It was the first time under 2:00 for the Highlanders which also earned their highest relay qualifying spot ever, finishing 9th in the Saturday morning preliminary heats.
Also in the preliminary heats, backstroker Sadie Mele earned a place in consolation finals of the 100 backstroke and in the process broke her school record, with a new time of 1:03.00.
The evening's finals found the Highlanders with a couple of 10th place finishes. The ladies moved down a spot in the 200 medley relay finishing with a time of 1:59.16. In the backstroke event, Mele moved up a spot from her qualifying position and again broke her school record. The new mark stands at 1:02.66
