TENAFLY, NJ --The NJIT men's tennis team scored a convincing 6-1 win over visiting Morgan State Saturday night at the Tenafly Racquet Club.
The Highlanders, who won five of the six singles spots and claimed the doubles points by winning two out of three contests. NJIT is now 7-2 on the season and have won its last three matches.
All five of the singles contests came in straights sets for the Highlanders while Morgan State's only win came at third singles when NJIT's Cosmin Chiujdea retired from the match.
NJIT opened the night with a win at first doubles and third doubles. Freshman Carl Lundquist and Chiujdea topped Morgan State's Juan Ortiz and Mauricio Oritz. Highlanders' Dan Salomon and Bryan Keelan were 8-1 winners at third doubles.
The straight set winners for the Highlanders were – Lundquist at first singles 6-1, 6-2; Steve Erickson at second singles 6-0, 6-1; Salomon at fourth singles 6-4, 6-0; Jonathan Lang at the fifth spot 7-5, 6-4 and Anthony Tunnero at sixth singles 6-1, 6-3.
The Highlanders will break until its Spring Break which will start on March 16 when they face Colgate and Florida Gulf Coast on March 18.
