NEWARK, NJ – George Mason, ranked No. 14 in the latest national AVCA Division I-II Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, swept New Jersey Institute of Technology, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
George Mason won the three-set match against NJIT, 30-25, 30-25 and 30-17. Kyle Gramit had a match-high 19 kills for the Patriots, who improved its record to 6-3 overall, 3-1 in the conference.
Junior Charles Bell led the NJIT attack with 15 kills, while setter Rodrigo Correa picked up 29 assists. Senior Robert Thomas was nearly perfect on the day notching six kills without an error in eight swings for a .750 attack percentage. Thomas also combined for six total blocks (four assists, two solo).
The Highlanders will return to action with their next match scheduled for Wednesday at 7 pm in a non-conference contest against Rutgers-Newark in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.
