HOBOKEN, NJ – The NJIT men's fencing team competed at the Stevens Invitational Sunday afternoon at Walker Gymnasium. The Highlanders competed against Cornell, Army, Stony Brook and host Stevens.
NJIT went 1-4 on the day picking up its lone win edging Stony Brook, 14-13.
The Highlanders got a strong performance from Tony Sorgi, as he finished the day 7-5, 3-0 against Army in the foil contests.
Captain Zachary Hvizdak went 2-1 against Cornell and Stony Brook while Michael Hamfeldt was 2-1 against Army.
NJIT will return to action on Sunday, February 8 when they host the NJIT Invitational. Schools to be represented in the Invitational are: Drew, Hunter, Lafayette, Maryland, St. John's (MD), Rutgers, Stevens and Yeshiva.
