CW Post 1, NJIT 1

This was a classic from back in the day. Both teams hit hard and played clean. Both goaltenders were outstanding.

The Pioneers scored early in the 1st period to take the lead, but couldn't put anything else past goaltender Yllano Tubilleja, who turned away 41 shots on the night.

The Highlanders generated plenty of offense, but weren't able to convert in the first period. Even a power play that kept the puck in the offensive zone for over a minute and generated several good scoring chances, didn't do the trick.

The second period was scoreless as both teams traded chances.

Finally, at 12:32 of the 3rd period Christian Corey, a freshman from St. John Vianney, scored his first Highlander goal. With assists to Mike Melillo and James Wintjen the game was tied and the Highlanders had the momentum.

They pressured CW Post for the remainder of regulation, but the score remained unchanged. Overtime brought 4 vs. 4 and NJIT playing defense first was careful not to let the game slip away.
