Road trip begins with a loss to Kutztown

Kutztown rallied from 2-0 at the end of the opening period to snatch a 3-2 victory away from NJIT on Saturday.

The Highlanders were fortunate to come away with the lead at the end of the first period as goaltender Yllano Tubilleja played brilliantly and kept them in the game.  Staked to a lead on goals by converted defensemen McArdle and Melillo  (assists to Pilny & Anagnos), Tubijella was brilliant for most of the game.

In the 2nd & 3rd periods a combination of "Bus Legs" and penalties gave the home team a decided advantage.  Kutztown out-shot NJIT by a margin of 36 to 23 and only took 6 penalties compared to the Highlanders who took 9 including 4 in the 3rd.

The game was tied and there for the taking and at 6:40 of the third period, and that is exactly what Kutztown did when Doug Coughlin scored his second goal of the game.  With Yllano pulled in favor of a 6th skater Kutztwn scored almost immediately into the empty net.

Next up is LaSalle who opened the season with a 17-2 thrashing of Franklin & Marshall College.
