LONG BEACH, NY—Hofstra came from behind to score a 5-3 league win over visiting NJIT in club ice hockey Saturday.

NJIT got all three of its goals in a 3-1 first period, taking advantage of the fact that Hofstra was shorthanded for most of the period due to penalties. The Pride goal also came on the power play.

The teams traded penalties early in the 2nd period until NJIT took stick penalties, combined with retaliations, including a 5-minute major for slashing, that allowed Hofstra to tie the game.

All of the special teams play in the penalty-filled game limited the use of NJIT's biggest advantage, as the 3rd and 4th line hardly saw the ice.

Going into the 3rd period, all that was needed was a return to the form that worked so well in the early part of the game, but it was not to be.

The Highlanders continued to commit penalties and the Pride managed to put in two more power play goals to win the game.
