New Jersey Institute of Technology Athletics

NJIT track and field athlete John Porteous from Wood-Ridge, NJ has been selected as Male Athlete of the Week for earning a spot in the NCAA East Regional in the Men’s 400-meter hurdles.
 
The junior is one of 48 qualifiers for the preliminary races of the East Regional. His qualifying time of 51.67 seconds ranks him right in the middle of the qualifiers at 24^th.
 
He ranked in the top 6 in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the men’s 400-meter hurdles and 200-meters by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association Division I report released on May 19. He ranks fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (51.67) and sixth in the men’s 200-meters (21.05)
 
The East Regional will run from Thursday May 29 through June 1. The top 12 finishers in each individual event at the respective Regionals will advance to the NCAA Championships.
