NJIT baseball player Mike Rampone, from Mendham, NJ has been selected as NJIT Male Athlete of the Week for his performance this past week against Saint Peter’s and LIU Brooklyn.
The junior hit .545 in the Highlanders last three games going 6-11 with five runs and two homeruns.
In the Highlanders 3-6 loss to Saint Peter’s on Tuesday, Rampone went 1-3 with two walks.
During the Highlanders first game against LIU Brooklyn on Friday the third baseman went 2-4 with a homerun, tying the game at 4 in the 6th inning. LIU came out on top in the end winning 6-5.
In the second game against LIU on Saturday, the Highlanders lost 10-11 in extra innings. Rampone had his team-best ninth double, plus his second home run in as many days. After going 3-for-5 in the game, Rampone is batting .397 plus a team-leading 10 bases-on-balls for an on-base percentage of .465.
