Gamero, from Kearny, NJ, was honored for his play against Sacred Heart on September 12 and September 14 against University at Buffalo.
Against Sacred Heart, he scored his second goal of the season, off a brilliant feed from teammate
Christian Galindo in the 68th minute, giving the Highlanders a 2-1 lead.
The senior forward scored two goals, including the game-winning goal against Buffalo, in the Highlanders 3-2 overtime victory.
Gamero first tied the game in the 83rd minute, when he knocked home a direct free kick from sophomore defender
Marko Drljic. It was a loose ball in front of the goal and Gamero pushed it into the net for the equalizer.
Then, in the early stages of overtime, Gamero tallied the golden goal, again with help from Drljic, who put a free kick to the right corner of the box. Gamero then headed the cross from Drljic off the right post and then past Buffalo goalie Jeremy Figler for the game-winner. It was not only Gamero's second goal of the match, but it was the second assist for Drljic.
Gamero was also named national Division I Independent Player of the Week for the games played through September 16, as selected by the website
College Sports Madness.
