Matt Ambrose was named an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at NJIT in the spring of 2022.
A New Jersey native, Ambrose returned back to the Garden State following a three-plus years at Villanova where he was the head of sports performance for the Wildcats' men's & women's swimming & diving teams as well as the women's water polo program. Amrbose also worked with the men's lacrosse, women's volleyball, softball, football, baseball, and track & field programs during his time at the BIG EAST school.
Prior to his time at Villanova, Ambrose served as a strength and conditioning coach at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, NJ.
Ambrose also gained experience as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer at Total Nunziato Training in Paramus and was a clinical assistant at Provere Physical Therapy in Paramus.
A 2016 graduate of Cortland State, Ambrose was a four-year starter at linebacker for the Red Dragons' football team, where he helped lead the squad to a pair of conference championships and was a two-time COSIDA Academic All-District selection.Â
Ambrose graduated from Cortland State with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and went on to receive his Master's Degree, a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education from Montclair State in 2019.
