Castano's Career Best Times

2023-24: Eighth place at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships in the women's 3000 meters.

2022-23: Placed seventh in the 4x800 relay at the America East Outdoor Championships. ...took eighth in the 4x400 relay at the Rutgers Relays. .. placed fifth in the 5000 meters at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships.

2021-22: Competed in 12 total indoor and outdoor meets...earned top ten finishes at the Seahawk Shootout on Dec. 10 (10th in Mile, 5:44.46), Metropolitan Indoors on Feb. 4 (4th in 3000 meters, 11:20.85) and Metropolitan Outdoors on Apr. 8-9 (7th in 5000 meters, 19:44.97).

2020-21: Competed in two outdoor meets (indoor season canceled due to COVID-19)...placed fifth with the 4x400 relay team (5:01.80) at the St. John's Invite on April 16...finished sixth in the 5000 meters (20:16.90) at the Metropolitan Championships on April 9.

Prior to NJIT: Competed at Parsippany for head coach Briane DeGironimo...Captain of the girls cross country team in 2019...Placed 3rd in the North Jersey Group 2 Sectional Championships in the 5k in 2019...Placed 6th in the North Jersey Group 2 Sectional Championships in the 3200 meter in 2020...four-year varsity letter winner...three-time First Team All-Conference and All-Academic award recipient. 

Personal: Katherine Castano-Villar...daughter of Mariella Villar and Luis Castano...intends to major in Business with concentration in Accounting.
