Carmen Selaru-Stewart, who played collegiately at Washington State University, joined the NJIT coaching staff as assistant coach for men’s and women’s tennis in January 2013.
Selaru-Stewart, a native of Romania, graduated in 2009 from Washington State, where she was a four-year member of the tennis team, competing in the powerful Pac-10 Conference and reaching the NCAA Division I Tournament in 2008.
Ranked in the top 10 in Romania from age nine to 18, she went on to compete in both singles and doubles for the Washington State Cougars. In addition to her success on the court, she was Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention, as well as a two-time WSU Athletic All-Academic and a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete.
A USPTA Certified Professional, she was assistant pro at Lafayette Tennis Club in Lafayette, California since 2009. In 2011, she added responsibility of Director of Junior Development at Lafayette Tennis Club.
