Liz Flooks, who spent 2015-16 as Director of Basketball Operations for NJIT women's basketball, has been promoted to assistant coach for the 2016-17 season,
Steve Lanpher, head coach of the Highlanders, announced.

"I am excited to be able to promote Coach Flooks to assistant coach," commented Lanpher, who is entering his fifth season as NJIT's head women's basketball coach. "She has worked tirelessly in her capacity this past year and because of her passion and positive coaching style, she has been afforded this opportunity. Liz is a special person and has all the traits to become a successful coach in our profession."

Flooks first joined the NJIT women's basketball staff in the summer of 2015 after working as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II program Pittsburgh-Johnstown from 2013 through 2015.

A native of White Plains, NY, Flooks was a four-year starter and three-year captain in women's basketball for Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY, on the basketball court, where she was a four-year starter and three-year captain.Â

Flooks received her Bachelor of Arts from Niagara in May 2011 and her master's in May 2015 from Liberty University.

Honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) after all four of her college seasons, Flooks completed her four-year career with 1,210 points, becoming the 21st member of the Purple Eagles 1,000-point club.

She was on the MAAC All-Rookie team as a freshman and made the all-conference third team following her sophomore and senior seasons, while earning second-team All-MAAC as a junior.

 As a sophomore, she finished the season ranked 23rd in NCAA Division I in free-throw percentage at 85.3 percent and she also made 171 3-point baskets in her career.

As a senior, Flooks led Niagara in scoring (10.7 ppg), rebounding (5.1 rpg), three-point field goal percentage (32.4) and free-throw percentage (85.2).

Flooks, a 1,000-point scorer at White Plains (NY) High School, she coached her high school alma mater girls' team in 2012-13 before heading to the college coaching ranks at Pitt-Johnstown.
