Bob Dubina

Lifelong New Jersey resident Bob Dubina has joined the NJIT coaching staff as an assistant coach of women’s basketball in May 2016.

Dubina comes to NJIT immediately after a successful run as the head coach of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ. His record as head coach at Brookdale from 2011-16 was 115 wins and 37 losses, including 20-11 in 2015-16.

“I am excited that Bob has joined our staff at NJIT,” said Lanpher.  “He brings a tremendous amount
of experience to our staff as he has coached in New Jersey at both the high school and collegiate levels for several years.

“Bob  is well-respected in the metropolitan area and has established strong ties that should bolster our recruiting efforts.”

Brookdale Community College competes in Region XIX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Jersey Blues were a perennial championship contender under Dubina’s leadership.

The best season for Brookdale under Dubina’s leadership came in 2013-14, when the team finished 31-3, winning the Region XIX championship and advancing to take third place in the NJCAA national Division 3 championship tournament. The Jersey Blues lost their first two games that season and then won 30 in a row before falling in the national semifinals.

Dubina, who was honored as Region XIX Coach of the Year in 2013-14, coached one All-America and nine all-region players in his tenure at Brookdale.

Born in North Arlington and raised in Hazlet, Bob Dubina has been coaching for nearly 20 years, beginning with AAU teams in 1997.

Before taking on the head coach’s job with Brookdale, he was girls basketball coach at Allentown (NJ) High School and also coached two years as an assistant at Georgian Court, an NCAA Division II program.

He is a graduate of both Brookdale and Monmouth University (2004; interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in political science and history).
