A 2007 graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, Melissa Golob joined the NJIT coaching staff as a graduate assistant in time for the start of the 2008 men's volleyball season.
She first worked with NJIT women’s volleyball in 2008, when the Highlanders posted 18 wins, the most for the program since it won 23 matches in 1990 competing at the Division III level. The team’s 18-16 mark in 2008 came in just its third season facing Division I competition.
She assisted with the Highlanders men's run to the semifinals of the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association playoff, while also assisting with the women's team's non-traditional season in the spring of 2008.
Golob remains an assistant coach with the NJIT men’s volleyball team in addition to her duties with the women’s team.
Coach Golob, who is pursuing her master’s degree from NJIT, majored in biology and minored in psychology at UMBC, where she was a Division I women's volleyball player, competing for the Retrievers from 2003 to 2005.
She is also a graduate of Broadneck High School in Annapolis, MD, where she was an honor roll student in addition to being captain of the volleyball team.
She resides in Bloomfield, NJ.
