Marco Matteucci enters his fifth season as the head coach of NJIT men's tennis in 2025-26.
In 2024-25, Matteucci built off the momentum from the previous season's NCAA Tournament berth to guide the Highlanders to an 18-4 mark. That included the program's second consecutive perfect record at home, going 10-0 inside the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. NJIT reached an ITA ranking as high as No. 70 during the season, while Pablo Perez Ramos became the first player in program history to earn at ITA singles ranking, coming in at No. 119 in the nation. The Highlanders, who finished the season ranked No. 5 in the Northeast Region by ITA, reached the Southland Conference championship match for the second consecutive season.
Matteucci guided the Highlanders to their most successful season in program history in 2023-24, culminating in winning the Southland Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. En route to the conference championship, the team garnered its second ever top-75 ITA national ranking, reaching as high as No. 57 in the country during the season. Matteucci's group had a program-best 11-0 start to the season and was able to conclude the campaign with an unbeaten record of 10-0 at home.
Matteucci came to NJIT following two seasons as Head Coach of the men's and women's tennis programs at La Salle. Prior to his time at La Salle, Matteucci also earned a great deal of experience as an Assistant Coach at several of the top tennis programs in the country including Arizona and Baylor, and locally at Columbia.
Matteucci has been responsible for building successful programs throughout his coaching journey. During his time at Baylor, Matteucci oversaw the women's team which reached No. 14 in the national rankings while taking home the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles in 2014. During his stint at UT-Arlington from 2009-13, Matteucci guided both the men's and women's teams to the Southland regular season and conference tournament titles in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

He has enjoyed coaching success from his Division II beginnings straight through the Power 5 level in Division I at a variety of Universities. We had a very good candidate pool, and Marco rose to the top."
Matteucci has also served as a group manager at the prestigious Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, FL.

Matteucci has displayed a knack for bringing in talent at his multiple stops in his coaching journey. He had a pair of top-25 recruiting classes during his time at Columbia from 2007-09, including the No. 7 class according to tennisrecruiting.net in 2009.
Matteucci's winning ways date back to his time as a student-athlete at the University of West Florida, where he won a pair of Division II National Championships in 2004 and 2005. His team was ranked inside the top-five in the ITA Division II National Team rankings in all four years, including No. 1 rankings after the title-winning seasons of 2004 and 2005.
A native of Queens, Matteucci has also spent time working alongside the United States Tennis Association, training and assimilating coaches to work with Playsight data analysis software.
