Anna Segarra joined the NJIT coaching staff for the men’s and women’s tennis teams in August 2018.
"We are very excited to have Anna on board,” Coordinator of Tennis Ira Miller added. “Her high level Division I playing experience, her varied coaching background, and genuine enthusiasm for collegiate tennis will add many great dimensions to the NJIT men's and women's tennis teams."
Segarra earned a bachelor’s of science in business management and accounting from University of New Orleans in May 2017 and will pursue her MBA at NJIT.
“I am extremely thrilled to join NJIT and be able to help the men’s and women’s tennis teams succeed in the ASUN Conference and guide them to be disciplined and fighters on and off the court”, Segarra commented.
A graduate from UNO, Segarra is one of the top players in program history, combining for 53 singles victories and 34 doubles wins. She became the second women’s tennis player at UNO to win more than 50 matches since 2000.
She combined for a team-best 18 wins during her sophomore campaign, and clinched a three-set thriller over No. 2 Stephen F. Austin to advance UNO for the first time in history to the semifinals of the Southland Conference Championships.
A four-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete honoree, Segarra graduated cum laude with accounting and management degrees.
Since June 2013, Anna has been a professional tennis coach at New Haven Lawn Club Tennis Pro, Match Tough Tennis Academy and City Park New Orleans Tennis Pro.
