After playing a major role in the NJIT Sports Information Department for over a decade, Stephanie Pillari has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations and Digital Strategy in June 2018.
Hired as an Assistant Sports Information Director in August 2005, Pillari was Interim Sports Information Director for the last two years and in her new role, she will oversee all communication and digital efforts for the University’s 19-sport athletic program.
During her time at NJIT, Pillari has been involved in all functions of the NJIT Sports Information Department, serving as primary media contact for the 19-sport athletic program, writing previews and game recaps, feature student-athlete stories, while producing game programs, brochures among other publications.
Pillari served as the webmaster for the Athletic Department website, NJITHighlanders.com, in conjunction with SIDEARM Sports, which has undergone a pair of redesigns during her tenure.
She has been instrumental in launching NJIT Athletic Department social media channels, providing regular content for the department’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and SnapChat platforms.
In addition, Pillari initiated ‘Highlanders Sports Network’, NJIT Athletics webcasting platform of all home events in 2006-07 and athletic highlight videos on NJIT Athletics YouTube channels.
Since joining the ASUN Conference in 2015-16, Pillari oversaw 50+ produced ESPN3 broadcasts in the last three academic seasons.
Pillari began her career in College Athletics at Division II Felician College in Rutherford, New Jersey, where she served as Assistant Sports Information Director for one year (2004-05).
A 2004 graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in graphic design, Pillari was a four-year member of the Ramapo Women’s Basketball team.
Team captain in 2002-03, Pillari earned NJAC All-Conference second-team and Ramapo College Female Rookie of the Year in 1999-00.
