Rory Gallagher joined the NJIT Strength & Conditioning staff as an Assistant Coach in February 2023.
Prior to Gallagher joining the Highlanders, he served as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University - Florham from January 2021 to January 2023. He was in charge of all aspects of the FDU-Florham strength and conditioning program and the 21 teams within the athletics department.
Before being elevated, Gallagher served as the Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Devils, working towards a Master's Degree in Sports Administration. During his time as the graduate assistant Gallagher assisted in all aspects of strength and conditioning for all 21 sports programs, heading men's soccer, women's lacrosse, volleyball and men's and women's Tennis.
Prior to his time at FDU, Gallagher was an Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach at NJIT. During his time as a Highlander, he was in charge of men's tennis and the outdoor track and field throwers. He also assisted in all aspects of strength and conditioning for all 19 sports.
Gallagher is a graduate of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Health and Exercise Science. He's also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, USAW Level 1, a Certified Exercise Physiologist through ACSM and holds Reflexive Performance Reset Level 1 certification.
Gallagher was recently the Director of Athletic Performance of Team Sports at Centercourt Sports Academy located in Morristown, NJ, from August 2017 to January 21, overseeing the sports performance training for all club sports teams.
