Energetic and personable David Janezic joined the NJIT men’s soccer coaching staff in Spring 2013, coming on as an assistant to newly-appointed head coach Didier Orellana.
A New Jersey product who played at Raritan High School in Hazlet and then in the NCAA Division I program at Monmouth University, Janezic came to NJIT having been head men’s soccer coach at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft in 2012 as well as with the USSDA U15/16’s Academy and NJSA04-United States Development Academy.
He led Brookdale to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference championships in 2012, with a 10-1-1 conference record, a 10-1-1 region record and an 18-4-1 overall record. The Jersey Blues advanced to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament under Janezic’s guidance. He was named GSAC and Region XIX Coach of the Year for his leadership and Brookdale ranked 9th in the final national poll, as well as leading the nation in goals against average.
At the club level, Janezic’s team was ranked 49th in the country and he worked alongside Tab Ramos, a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and head coach of Under-20 United States National Team.
Before becoming head coach at Brookdale, Janezic was an assistant men’s coach at NCAA Division II Caldwell College.
He began his college coaching career at his alma mater, Monmouth, working there from 1997-2001 and then served as Director of Coaching for the Hazlet Soccer Association from 2002 to 2009 before returning to the college ranks with Caldwell.
As a player at Monmouth from 1992 to 1996, Janezic earned team, conference, and regional honors and went on to play professionally, including a stint with the indoor Philadelphia Kixx in 1997-98 and outdoors with the Central Jersey Riptide. Before college, Janezic earned state, area, and county honors for Raritan HS, where he was a captain.
David and his wife Maryann, reside in Aberdeen, NJ with daughter Macy Quinn and son Landon Robert.
