Elections of Members to NJIT Athletics Hall of Fame
The NJIT Athletics Hall of Fame was organized to recognize, honor and perpetuate the memory of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to NJIT Athletics.
Who is eligible to vote?
Current members of the Hall of Fame and members of the Hall of Fame Committe. The Hall of Fame meetings are generally held in the fall.
Who is eligible to nominate?
Anyone can nominate, but only those on the Hall of Fame committee, and Hall of Fame members can elect someone into the Hall of Fame. To nominate please fill out the attached sheet.

PROCEDURE FOR ELECTION OF MEMBERS TO NJIT ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
1. Eligibility shall not begin until ten years after a student-athlete has last participated in intercollegiate athletics for NJIT. Student-athlete candidates must have attained a bachelor's degree from NJIT University or any other university.
2. Eligibility shall be based primarily on the athletic accomplishments of the individual.
- The individual shall be chosen on the basis of playing ability, integrity, character, leadership, sportsmanship,dedication and the person's contributions to the athletics teams on which he or she played, and to NJIT in general.
- The student-athlete must have participated in an intercollegiate sport at NJIT for at least two years.
- Since graduation the selectee's life must have reflected favorably on the University.
3. No individual's election shall be based on a single spectacular performance or single individual record alone.
4. No more than five members may be elected in each calendar year.
5. Honorary Selections - Special consideration may be given to persons who have made a significant contribution to intercollegiate sports at NJIT without having been a student-athlete. An Honorary nominee's eligibility shall not begin until five years after his/her contributions with university have ended. Special consideration will be applied in certain cases. (coach administrator,trainer,donor)
6. The Hall of Fame Committee accepts nominations and adds the top performers from each team, following the ten-year period after graduation, onto the ballot.
- Significant background information on the potential candidates shall be forwarded to the Hall of Fame Committee at least one week prior to the initial voting meeting.
- Each Hall of Fame Committee member will rank their top ten candidates from 1 through 10. The 10 nominees who garner the most votes will be placed on a final ballot. Following a discussion by the committee of the 10 finalists, a final vote will be held to name the five Hall of Fame inductees.
- A candidate who does not receive votes for the top ten for two consecutive years will have their name removed from the ballot.
- Names of those finally selected by the Hall of Fame Committee shall be subject ot final review and approval by the president of NJIT.
- Results of the balloting and names of those selected will be kept strictly confidential until proper publicity can be presented and released by the Hall of Fame Committee.
7. In the event an elected candidate cannot attend the ceremony, he/she shall be inducted in the next year's class. Avenues will be exhausted to have the inductee present at the ceremony. If the elected candidate chooses not to attend, he/she will be inducted in the class they were chosen.
8. Those elected to the NJIT Athletics Hall of Fame shall be honored and receive appropriate awards during an annual induction ceremony / dinner. The names and accomplishments of those selected shall be prominently displayed in the NJIT athletic facility, and special Athletics Hall of Fame room.
