Biography

2020-21: Competed in all four of NJIT's meets this season...helped the 400 Medley Relay win against Binghamton on Mar. 21 (3:30.46)...placed fifth at the America East Championships as part of the 200 Free Relay (1:25.66).

2019-20: Competed in all ten meets...earned seven event wins over four different meets...set NJIT school records in the 200 Fly (1:50.80, CCSAs), 200 Medley Realy (1:31.36, CCSAs), and 400 Medley Relay (3:22.90, CCSAs).

2018-19: Swam in all ten meets for the Highlanders...picked up 11 event victories across six meets...picked up three top-five finishes at CCSAs.

2017-18: The freshman was one of the top freshman competitors for the Highlanders this season. … in his first meet vs Binghamton grabbed second in the 100 fly and third in the 200 fly. … tied for third in the 100 fly at the ECAC Winter Championships with a season-best time for himself and  the team, 51.17. … part of the 200 medley relay team at the CCSA Championships  that broke the NJIT record with a time of 1:33.44.

Coach Lawson on Bonner: "A phenomenal late addition to our 2017 recruiting class, Mattheau is a dominant freestyle & butterfly swimmer from Ontario who we see fitting right in with the team.  We look forward to him making big scoring contributions in meets and helping push our Butterfly training group to the next level."

Prior to NJIT: Attended Mentor College in Canada. ... currently ranks number 6th swimmer in Ontario. ... medaled in both the 2014 Canadian Championships and at the 2016 CARIFTA games.
