Prior to NJIT: First-team all-Liberty Division honoree in 2008, as Willingboro won 16 games in its bid to win back-to-back state titles. Griffin scored a team-leading 17 points, including a final shot that forced overtime against Freehold Boro in the Central Jersey Group 3 tournament … team captain for Willingboro when it won the 2007 New Jersey Group 3 state championship … Melanie played with the AAU SJ "Boro" Blitz, one of Jersey's elite basketball Organizations, where she was coached by her father, Donnell Griffin. Three-yeart NJIT teammate Jessica Gerald also played for the “Boro” Blitz.
