​NEWARK, NJ – Freshman Zain Thompson has been selected as the America East Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Thompson earned his first career weekly conference honor after helping the Highlanders post a 2-1 record on the week. The freshman forward recorded one goal and one assist across NJIT's three matches.

Thompson registered his first collegiate assist in NJIT's 1-0 shutout victory over Loyola Maryland before finding the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career in the Highlanders' match at Rider on Sept. 4.

NJIT will wrap up its two-match homestand on Saturday at 5 p.m. when the Highlanders host FDU. The match will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV.
