Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Sacred Heart to Remain Undefeated (13-0) at Home

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's volleyball team swept visiting Sacred Heart, 3-0, Friday night in EIVA Conference men's volleyball action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.

No. 20 NJIT extended its winning streak to four matches, improving to 17-8 overall and 8-3 in the EIVA, while remaining perfect at home with a 13-0 record. The Highlanders are one of just three NCAA Division I programs unbeaten on their home floor, joining UCLA (10–0) and UMES (10–0). The 17 victories mark NJIT's highest win total since the 2022 season.

Sophomore Wiktor Nowak led all players with 10 kills, hitting .375 on 24 swings with just one error. Parker Moorhead and Andre Aleixo added eight kills apiece. Setter Bruno Figueiredo dished out 29 assists and contributed four digs. Defensively, Aleixo posted a team-high 12 digs, while Daniel Latkowski anchored the net with five total blocks (all assists).

Both teams traded points early in the opening set before NJIT pulled away with a 6-3 surge to take a 15-11 lead. The Highlanders extended their advantage to five at 20-15, prompting a Sacred Heart timeout after a 3-1 run. The Pioneers answered with a brief 3-1 stretch of their own late in the set, trimming the deficit to 24-21. However, NJIT's Wiktor Nowak closed it out with a kill, securing a 25-21 set victory.

NJIT raced out to a 10-4 lead to open the second set. Sacred Heart responded with three straight points to cut the deficit to 10-7, but the Highlanders pushed their advantage back to six at 14-9. NJIT then used a 6-2 run—highlighted by four consecutive points—to build a seven-point cushion, 18-11, capped by a Parker Moorhead kill that forced a Pioneers timeout. The Highlanders maintained control down the stretch, scoring six of the final eight points to secure a 25-15 win and take a 2-0 match lead.

The Highlanders grabbed a 10-6 lead to open the third set, fueled by a five-point run. Sacred Heart battled back to trim the deficit to 13-11, but NJIT responded with a 5-1 surge to extend its advantage to 19-13. The Highlanders closed strong, scoring four of the final five points to seal the 25-19 win and complete the 3-0 sweep.
