NEWARK, NJ – No. 20 NJIT extended its winning streak to eight with a 3-1 (25-21, 27-25, 25-13, 25-23) road victory over Harvard Crimson men's volleyball on Saturday in EIVA action.
The eight-match streak is NJIT's longest since winning nine straight in 2021. The Highlanders improve to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Set one featured early back-and-forth play before NJIT broke through with a five-point surge for an 18-13 lead. The Highlanders hit .355 in the frame and maintained control for a 25-21 win.
The second set was tightly contested throughout. Harvard edged ahead 18-15, but NJIT answered with a late push to take a 24-23 lead. The Crimson responded to claim the set, 27-25, evening the match at 1-1.
NJIT dominated set three, jumping out to a 6-3 advantage and stretching it to 14-6. The Highlanders closed strong for a 25-13 victory to regain the lead.
Carrying that momentum into the fourth, NJIT built a 12-8 edge. Harvard cut the deficit to 23-22, but the Highlanders scored two of the final three points to secure the 3-1 win and complete the weekend sweep.
Wiktor Nowak led all players with 19 kills, while Andre Aleixo added 13. Daniel Latkowski hit .500 with eight kills on 14 swings and totaled 10 block assists—tied for second in the NCAA in a four-set match.
Setter Bruno Figueiredo recorded 51 assists, six block assists and two digs, and libero Diego Lopez posted a career-high 15 digs. Parker Moorhead narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and nine digs.
Next Up
NJIT returns home next week to host EIVA opponent George Mason on February 20 at 6 p.m., followed by a non-conference match-up against Manhattan on February 21 at Noon.
