HONOLULU–The second-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a straight-set win over NJIT, Friday, at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Warriors won 25-11, 25-16, 25-14.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was newcomer Andre Aleixo with 10 kills on 22 attempts for a .272 hitting percentage. Middle hitter Andrew Fedmasu combined for a .400 hitting percentage on three kills, one error and five swings.
Bruno Figueiredo tallied 21 assists while Aleixo paced the Highlanders with 10 digs.
The two teams will play against each other on Sunday at 5pm(HT)/10pm(ET).
Next Up
The NJIT will return to action when the Highlanders play three matches in Ohio and Indiana – Ohio State (Jan. 9), Ball State (Jan. 10) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 11).
