PHILADELPHIA, PA – The NJIT women's volleyball team drops midweek matchup down in Philadelphia to Penn in straight sets on Wednesday night.

The Highlanders fought through a competitive match but struggled to find consistency on the offense side of the court, hitting .098 as a team. Freshman
Martina Gonzalo Cortes led the way for NJIT with 8.5 points and nine kills, Senior
Taylor West followed close behind with 8.0 points and six kills.
On the defensive side of the court, Senior
Doga Emil and Sophomore
Ema Torres led the charge with 11 digs while Senior
Mariana Cova finished the match with eight digs.
Looking over at Penn, the Quakers offense exploded, finishing the match with a team .310 hitting percentage and out assisting the Highlanders 50 to 25. On the other side of the court the Quakers' dominance continued as they led the Highlanders 64-43 in digs.
