CHARLESTON, WV–The NJIT men's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory at Charleston (WV) in EIVA men's volleyball action Friday evening.
NJIT, winners of two in a row, improves to 9-12 overall and 3-4 in the EIVA.
Charleston (WV) took the first frame 25-17 but it was the visiting Highlanders who won three straight, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17 to secure the 3-1 road victory.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was senior Alessandro Negri who recorded 18 kills followed by Josh Gregg with 16 kills. Negri combined for a .412 hitting percentage on 34 swings with just four errors. Gregg recorded a .406 hitting percentage on 32 attempts with just three errors.
Freshman setter Bruno Figueiredo posted 37 assists and libero Diego Lopez led the match with 10 digs.
NJIT held a huge advantage in team blocks 11-to-2 paced by Gregg (one solo, four assists), Braeden Goebbert (one solo, four assists), Andrew Fedmasu (two solo, three assists),
The two teams will be back in action on Saturday at 2pm.
