LEXINGTON, Va. - The NJIT swimming and diving team earned four medals on the final day of the America East Championships on Saturday at the VMI Aquatic Center. The Highlanders finished in fourth place with 417 points.

Ilias El Fallaki shattered his own school record in the 1,650 freestyle, winning a gold medal with a time of 15:26.51. With gold medals in both the 500 free and 1,650 free, El Fallaki was named the America East Men's Most Outstanding Rookie. This marks the second straight season and the third time in five years that NJIT has had an America East Men's Most Outstanding Rookie selection.

Adam Mekrami earned his second bronze medal of the America East Championships in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 15:35.75.
Keegan Wooding (16:21.09) and
Oxford Bayley (16:28.92) also scored points in the 1,650 free.

Sam Deemer earned a medal in the 200 backstroke for the third consecutive season, securing a gold medal with a time of 1:44.81.

Borys Endle earned a gold medal in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.63. He is the only swimmer in the America East this season to record a sub-2-minute time in the 200 breast.

Tanish Chhabra (44.87) and
Matthew Piacentini (44.93) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100 freestyle.

Pawel Drzymala finished seventh in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.01, while
Joris Boeman posted a time of 1:52.26 to finish tenth in the same event.

Chhabra, Piacentini,
Aidan Blackmon, and
Zac Kuzak recorded a 400 freestyle relay time of 3:00.57, finishing sixth.
