NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will host Bryant on Thursday and travel to Binghamton on Saturday in America East Conference women's basketball action.

Vs. Bryant | Feb. 13 @ 6pm … The game vs. Bryant on Thursday, February 13 will tip off at 6pm inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center and streamed live on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on NJITHighlanders.com. Bryant leads the all-time series, 5-2. The Bulldogs defeated the Highlanders in the last meeting on February 1, 71-66 in Smithfield, RI.
At Binghamton | Feb. 15 @ 2pm … The game at Binghamton on February 15 will tip off at 2pm inside the Dr. Bai Lee Court and streamed live on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on BinghamtonBearcats.com. The all-time series is tied at 6-6 with NJIT picking up the victory in the first meeting of the season, 58-49, on January 2.
Highlanders Sweeps America East Conference Awards
Alejandra Zuniga and Olivia Kulyk swept the America East Conference Women's Basketball weekly awards the conference office announced on Monday.
In a 2-0 week for the Highlanders, Zuniga picked up her first #AEHoops Player of the Week award while Kulyk tabbed her eighth #AEHoops Rookie of the Week this season.
Zuniga, the guard from Madrid, Spain, averaged 23.0ppg, 4.0rpg and shot 48.5 percent from the field and 50 percent from downtown. She scored 26 points, collected five boards, and four assists in a win over Maine, shooting 56 percent from the field and went 4-for-7 from three-point range. Zuniga followed up with a 20-point game against New Hampshire, grabbing three rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the home win. Zuniga ranks third in the conference in scoring (17.2ppg) and assists (3.4apg).
Kulyk, the guard from Edinboro, PA, Kulyk averaged 5.0ppg and 4.0 rpg. She chipped in four boards, one block, and an assist in a win over Maine on Thursday. She scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds while shooting 4-for-6 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc in a win over New Hampshire. Kulyk ranks 13th in the conference in scoring, first in three-point field goals made and in three-point field goal percentage.

Last Time Out
The NJIT women's basketball team won its second straight home America East Conference game Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting New Hampshire, 71-63, inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
NJIT, winners of the last three out of four contests, improved to 9-15 overall, 6-5 in the America East while New Hampshire moved to 8-16 overall, 2-9 in the America East. With the win, NJIT splits the regular season series with the Wildcats and currently sit tied for fourth with Bryant in the America East standings.
The Highlanders had three players in double-figures paced by junior Alejandra Zuniga with 20 points followed by Trinity Williams and Olivia Kulyk who chipped in 10 points each. Williams finished the game 5-of-8 from the field with four rebounds and Kulyk connected on 2-of-4 from three-point range, including a step-back three-pointer with 1:06 left on the clock to push the NJIT lead to as many as five, 66-61, in the fourth quarter, to continue the Highlanders 10-2 spurt to close out the game.
1,000 Career Points and Counting
Rising junior Alejandra Zuniga became the 13th Highlander to score 1,000 career points after a tough driving right-handed layup with 2:38 left in the game against Monmouth on December 9, 2024. Zuniga, who cracked the top-10 all-time stands at 1,210 points, which ranks seventh all-time in program history.

NJIT, which started off the America East schedule 3-0, the best start since the 2021-22 season, has won the last three out of four contests, including two in a row at home over Maine and New Hampshire.

Alejandra Zuniga is averaging 17.2ppg and 2.9rpg while shooting 44.7% from the field. She has scored 20+ points or more in 12 games this season, including a season-best 26 at Rutgers. Zuniga ranks third in the conference in scoring and sixth in assists.

Freshman Olivia Kulyk has been named America East Rookie of the Week eight times and Player of the Week once this season. She is averaging 9.8ppg and 4.6rpg. In the America East, Kulyk ranks in the top 15 in scoring, ranks second in league in three-point three-point field goals made (1.9) and in three-point field goal percentage (39.2)

As a team, NJIT ranks first in the America East in scoring (65.1 ppg), blocked shots (4.29 bpg) and second in three-point field goals made (7.4 pg).

The Highlanders closed out 2024 with a win over LIU, 89-60, led by five players reaching double-figures.

NJIT concluded its non-conference slate 3-10, dropping six games by five or less points this season, including a one-point overtime loss Hostra (L, 69-74), Army West Point (L, 68-69 (OT)), Lafayette (L, 69-71), Saint Peter's (L, 60-65), Coppin State (L, 61-63) and Wagner (W, 62-60).

The Highlanders secured its first win of the season at Saint Francis U, an 80-60 road victory. The 80 points are the most scored by the Highlanders this season.

Head Coach Mike Lane is in his seventh season at the helm of the Highlanders. NJIT went 12-18 overall, 4-12 in the America East and advanced to the America East Postseason Tournament for the fourth straight time.
Bryant Bulldogs Notes
Bryant enters Thursday's contest with a 13-11 overall record, 6-5 in the conference. The Bulldogs have won their last two out of three games with wins over NJIT (Feb.1; 71-66) and most recently Binghamton (Feb. 8; 68-62).
Bryant has three players averaging double-figures paced by Mia Mancini (10.9ppg), Ali Brigham (10.5ppg) and Breezie Williams (10.3ppg). Nia Scott tops the league in rebounding at 8.4rpg.
Binghamton Bearcats Notes
Binghamton, standing at a 12-12 overall record, 4-7 in the America East Conference will host UMBC and NJIT this week.
The Bearcats have lost the last six out of seven contests with its lone win the stretch of games, a 65-52 road win at UMass Lowell on February 6.
Binghamton is led by two players – Yanniah Boyd and Jadyn Weltz, each averaging 9.5ppg. On the boards, Bella Pucci tops the team with 5.7rpg which ranks seventh in the America East.
