VILLANOVA, PA–Villanova scored an early second half goal and held on to a 1-0 victory over visiting NJIT in non-conference men's soccer action at Higgins Soccer Complex Tuesday afternoon.
Villanova improved to 4-4-3 overall while the Highlanders moved to 2-6-3.
The Wildcats scored in the 47th minute on a goal by Karson Vazquez assisted by Michael teDuits to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.
NJIT outshot Villanova 23-9 led by Sergio Martinez Cubel and Jake Rubis with four shots each while Caio Carra combined for two shots.
Over the first 45 minutes of action, NJIT held a 12-4 advantage in overall shots and 6-0 in corner kicks. The Highlanders finished with nine total corner kicks for the match.
