1/28/2025 4:27:00 PM

NEWARK, N.J. – NJIT redshirt sophomore Cole Campbell was named one of the Top 50 catchers in the nation by D1Baseball.com on Tuesday.

Campbell marks the second consecutive year that a Highlander has landed on D1Baseball's Top 50 catchers list. Luke Longo earned the honor prior to the 2024 season.

The Somers Point, N.J. native made his mark in his first season competing for the Highlanders. His .341 batting average on the season led NJIT and ranked third in all of America East. Campbell played in 43 games for the Highlanders in 2024, hitting three home runs while driving in 26 runs and posting an .878 OPS. Campbell posted 13 multi-hit games on the season, including six 3-hit performances.

Campbell is the lone America East player and the only catcher from New Jersey to crack the list.

NJIT opens its 2025 campaign on Friday, Feb. 14 with the start of a four-game series at High Point.
