NEWARK, N.J. - Ilias El Fallaki shattered the 1,000 freestyle program record with a personal-best time of 9:22.97 in NJIT's (3-4) 172-123 win over Lafayette (1-4) on Saturday at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (BWEC).

Both teams participated in the "out of the hat" meet, where student-athletes randomly selected the events that they would compete in.

Sam Deemer,
Bartosz Bryg,
Pawel Drzymala, and
Tanish Chhabra won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:24.13.

Deemer earned another victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.34.
Vincent Coppola won the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.44.

Bryg posted a winning time of 59.27 in the 100 breaststroke, his second victory of the day.
Aidan Blackmon won the 200 fly in 2:02.68.

El Fallaki claimed his second victory of the meet with a 100 free time of 47.71.
Joris Boeman won the 200 back with a time of 1:56.49.

Deemer also won the 500 free with a time of 4:53.91, while Drzymala won the 100 fly with a time of 51.32.

NEXT UP
The Highlanders will compete in their final regular season meet against Monmouth on Jan. 31 at 4:00 p.m. at the BWEC.
