WEST POINT, NY - The NJIT men's tennis team bounced back after a pair of losses last week, defeating host Army West Point 4-2 at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center to improve to 12-3 this season.
The Highlanders, who are ranked #67 in the most recent ITA computer rankings, have now defeated the Black Knights two years in a row after losing six-straight from 2017-22.
NJIT got on the scoreboard first as it took two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Pablo Perez Ramos and
Wil Jenkins rolled to a 6-2 win at first doubles, while
Severin Risan and
Nejc Skorjanc earned a 6-4 victory at third doubles to clinch the point and put the Highlanders ahead.
In singles play, the Highlanders got wins at #1, #2, and #5 to get the four points needed to clinch the match. Perez Ramos, Jenkins, and
Oscar Callo von Platen all won their matches in straight sets to lead NJIT to another victory.
The Highlanders will look to stay undefeated at home on Saturday when they welcome Lehigh to the Naimoli Tennis and Recreation Center in Newark. First serve is slated for noon.
