NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will host a pair of America East Conference games this weekend in Newark, welcoming New Hampshire and Maine.
Game Information
NJIT will welcome New Hampshire on Thursday at 7pm and host Maine, who is tied for the top spot in the America East standings, on Saturday at 2pm.
Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on NJITHighlanders.com.
All-Time Series
New Hampshire leads the all-time series 6-4 despite the Highlanders winning the last two out of three contests while Maine holds an all-time series record over NJIT, 6-3, picking up wins in the last four out of five contests.
NJIT Notes
–NJIT finished the non-conference slate above .500 with an 8-5 mark for the first time in the NJIT Division I era (first season competing against a Division I schedule – 2006-07).
–The Highlanders picked up its first America East Conference win on the road at UMass Lowell on February 10 and first at home, a 64-52 victory over New Hampshire (2.22.24).
–NJIT led by 2023 America East Conference Rookie of the Year Alejandra Zuniga, is averaging 15.6ppg, which ranks fifth in the league.
–Trinity Williams tops the America East in blocked shots, averaging 1.7bpg. Williams paces the Highlanders on the boards with 7.0rpg while adding 9.3ppg.
Scouting New Hampshire
New Hampshire enters Thursday's contest on a three game skid and 3-9 in the America East, 9-16 overall. The Wildcats are led by Breezie Williams (7.4ppg) and Clara Gomez on the glass (5.2). Williams netted 11 points in the home win over NJIT.
Scouting Maine
Maine (11-1 in the America East, 18-8 overall) will visit UMBC on Thursday before traveling up north to NJIT.
The Black Bears are winners of the last six and have won the last 11 out of 12 games, including a two-point victory (57-55) over Vermont on February 17, trailing by as many as 12 to rally back for the road victory.
Anne Simon tops the America East in scoring at 18.5ppg while teammate Adrianna Smith ranks third in scoring at 16.2ppg. Smith sits atop the league in rebounding 11.2rpg while Simon ranks fourth with 6.9rpg.
NJIT Alumnae Day | March 2, 2024
Save the Date! NJIT Women's Basketball Alumnae Day is set for March 2, 2024, which is also the final regular season game for the Highlanders who will honor its graduating seniors in pregame ceremonies. Pregame reception will be held inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center and will begin at 12pm. Alums in attendance will be recognized at halftime.
