NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will hit the road Sunday, traveling down the Turnpike to take on in-state foe Rutgers at 2pm.

Game Information
Tip off is slated for 2pm inside the Jersey Mike's Arena.  The game will be streamed live on B1G+ with in-game statistics available on ScarletKnights.com.

All-Time Series
Sunday will mark the second time the two schools will meet.  The two teams first met on November 13, 2022.  Rutgers topped NJIT, 87-71.

Last Time Out
Visiting Hofstra down by as many as 12 in the second half came from behind to top NJIT, 74-69, in the home opener for the Highlanders Friday night inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.

NJIT junior Alejandra Zuniga led all scorers with 24 points followed by freshman Olivia Kulyk who netted a new personal-best 13 points while graduate student Enya Maguire chipped in 10 points.

Senior forward Trinity Williams led the Highlanders on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds followed by Kulyk with six.

News & Notes
–Two of the top three scorers return from a year ago – Alejandra Zuniga (14.7 ppg) and Trinity Williams (9.0 ppg).
–Rising junior Zuniga will enter her junior campaign with 798 career points, 133 assists, 76 three-point field goals and 68 steals.  In 2022-23, she was selected as the America East Rookie of the Year, named to the America East Third Team and All-Rookie team.
–Forward Trinity Williams has played in 80 career games with 55 games starting, as she enters her senior season.  She averaged 9.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg.
–Head Coach Mike Lane enters his seventh season at the helm of the Highlanders.
–The Highlanders add six newcomers – five freshmen and one graduate student.

Scouting Rutgers
Rutgers enters Sunday's contest with a 2-0 record, including victories over Manhattan (85-79) and Cornell (72-61).

Destiny Adams led all scorers with a double-double (30pts, 15reb) on 14-of-24 from the field to go along with three blocked shots.  In the season opener against Manhattan, Adams finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Back for her senior campaign, Adams had a breakout season in her first season in a Rutgers uniform.  The UNC transfer led active players on the team in multiple statistical categories, such as minutes (953), points (500), rebounds (254) and steals (51), while also ranking in the Big Ten. She finished the regular season fifth in total points and sixth in total rebounds and second in offensive rebounds in the Big Ten.  

She earned All-Big Ten Second Team (Coaches) honors as well as an Honorable Mention (Media). In addition, Adams set the Big Ten Tournament single game rebounding record with 24 boards in the opening round. 

The Scarlet Knights return seven players and add two transfers, a pair of freshmen and one walk-on.

NJIT will return back home on November 13, hosting two-time defending Northeast Conference Champions Sacred Heart.  Tip off is slated for 6pm on ESPN+.
