NEWARK, N.J. - The NJIT swimming and diving team will host Marist on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (WEC). The meet will be streamed live on America East TV.

NJIT enters the meet with a 1-2 record in dual meets this season, most recently falling to Georgetown, 150-133, on Nov. 2. The Highlanders won the NJIT Invitational on Oct. 11-12, defeating Howard and Saint Peter's.

Pawel Drzymala earned the America East Rookie of the Week on Nov. 5 after winning the 200-yard butterfly against Villanova with a time of 1:52.92, which ranks sixth in the America East. He also ranks tenth in the conference in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.18 at the NJIT Invitational.

Ilias El Fallaki was named both the America East Swimmer and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 15 after breaking two school records, including the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:32.82) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:44.05). His 1,650-yard freestyle time ranks first in the America East and tenth in the nation. His 1,000-yard freestyle time ranks second in the conference. El Fallaki also ranks in the top five in the America East in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.85) and 500-yard freestyle (4:40.72).

Adam Mekrami won the 500-yard freestyle at the NJIT Invitational with a time of 4:34.40, which ranks first in the America East. He also ranks No. 23 in the country in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:01.68, recorded at the NJIT Invitational. Mekrami ranks fifth in the America East in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:41.70).

Sam Deemer ranks in the top 10 in the America East for four events, including the 50-yard backstroke (24.15), 100-yard backstroke (51.29), 200-yard backstroke (1:53.22), and the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.09).

Aidan Blackmon posted a 50-yard backstroke of 23.34 against Iona, which ranks third in the America East. He also ranks ninth in the America East in the 100-yard backstroke, recording a time of 51.94 against Villanova.

Borys Endle won the 400-yard individual medley at the NJIT Invitational with a time of 4:06.33, which ranks second in the America East. He also ranks third in the conference in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.56) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:06.20).

SCOUTING MARIST
Marist enters the contest with a 3-0 record in dual meets this season, most recently securing a 151.5-142.5 victory over Fairfield on Nov. 2. James Conable led the Red Foxes with three first-place finishes against Fairfield. Marist won the MAAC championship last season and is ranked first in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

This will be the first-ever dual meet between NJIT and Marist in the all-time series.

After a week off, NJIT will travel to Boston to compete in the BU Terrier Invitational on Nov. 22-24.
