Men’s Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season on the Road at UMBC Tuesday Night

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team will wrap up its 2024 regular season on the road at UMBC on Tuesday night.

Game Information
Tuesday's match is slated for 7:00pm at Retriever Soccer Park. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on UMBCRetreivers.com.

  • NJIT will need a win or a tie on Tuesday to clinch a spot into the 2024 America East Conference Postseason Tournament.

Highlanders Streak
NJIT is undefeated in the last six-out-of-seven matches, with a pair of straight ties against UMass Lowell (T, 1-1) and New Hampshire (T, 0-0), back-to-back wins at home over UAlbany (W, 2-1) and Drexel (W, 2-1).  The Highlanders started off the stretch with a tie against Delawre to open the month of October, dropped a 2-0 decision at Vermont after the match was held scoreless for 75 minutes.  NJIT most recently tied New Hampshire on Senior Night, November 1.

The NJIT men's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with visiting New Hampshire in the home finale on Senior Night for the Highlanders Friday evening in America East Conference men's soccer action inside Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

The Highlanders finished with a 22-to-5 advantage in overall shots paced by Sergio Martinez Cubel with five shots.

Scouting UMBC
UMBC enters Tuesday's match with a 6-6-4 overall mark and 3-2-1 in the America East with wins over Vermont, Bryant and Binghamton.

The Retrievers have won back-to-back matches over Vermont and Bryant, both 1-0 victories. 

UMBC clinched a spot in the America East Tournament for the fourth straight season, defeating Bryant, 1-0, on the road.

Graduate student defender Giuseppe Indelicato scored with 18:03 remaining to give the UMBC men's soccer team a 1-0 America East Conference victory against the Bryant Bulldogs on Friday evening at Beirne Stadium. The Retrievers clinched a berth in the upcoming America East Tournament as the Dawgs moved into a tie for second place with New Hampshire with one game remaining.

Two Retrievers – Joseph Picotto and Ryan Calheira pace the team with four goals while Hans Nesheim leads the team with nine assists, which also ranks second in the America East.
