Women’s Basketball Hosts Lafayette to Close Out November

NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will host Lafayette on Tuesday to close out the month of November.

Game Information
The game will be on Tuesday at 7pm on ESPN+ inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center with in-game statistics available on NJITHighlaners.com

All-Time Series
Lafayette leads the all-time series, 8-1.  The lone Highlander win came in 2006 a 70-59 victory over the Leopards. 

Last Time Out
NJIT had four players reach double-digits led by a team-high 16 points from Alejandra Zuniga but the visiting Highlanders fell at Merrimack 87-76 in women's basketball non-conference action Saturday afternoon inside Bert Hammel Court.

In addition to Zuniga's team-best 16 points – Olivia Kulyk combined for 14 points, a new career-high for the freshman (13 points vs. Hofstra) while Trinity Williams and Allison Cannon each chipped in 10 points.

News & Notes
–Two of the top three scorers return from a year ago – Alejandra Zuniga (14.7 ppg) and Trinity Williams (9.0 ppg).
–Rising junior Zuniga will enter her junior campaign with 798 career points, 133 assists, 76 three-point field goals and 68 steals.  In 2022-23, she was selected as the America East Rookie of the Year, named to the America East Third Team and All-Rookie team.
–Forward Trinity Williams has played in 80 career games with 55 games starting, as she enters her senior season.  She averaged 9.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg.
–Head Coach Mike Lane enters his seventh season at the helm of the Highlanders.
–The Highlanders add six newcomers – five freshmen and one graduate student.
–NJIT competed in the ASUN Conference for five seasons (first season 2015-16) before the Highlanders joined the America East in July 2020.

Chasing 1,000 Career Points - Alejandra Zuniga
The rising junior Zuniga enters Tuesday's contest with 928 career points, 72 away from scoring her 1,000 career point.  As a freshman, the 2023 America East Rookie of the Year combined for 358 points and last year she followed up with 440 career points.  Six games into the 2024-25 season, Zuniga has registered 114 points.

Scouting Lafayette
Lafayette enters Tuesday's contest with a 1-4 overall mark and have won the last three in a row, most recently at #13 West Virginia on November 22.

The Leopards played a pair of top 15 teams – vs. #6 Notre Dame and at #13 West Virginia. 

The lone win of the season for Lafayette was on November 9, a 53-45 home victory over visiting Saint Francis U.

Abby Antognoli and Kay Donahue are the two players averaging double-figures for the Leopards (10.6ppg) and (10.8ppg) respectively.  Donahue tops the team on the boards (5.6rpg),
