NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team will travel to Vermont on Sunday for the first America East Conference road trip of the season for the Highlanders.
Game Information
Sunday's match is slated for 2:00pm at Virtue Field. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with in-game statistics available on UVMAthletics.com.
All-Time Meeting
Vermont owns a 5-2 overall record against NJIT. The Highlanders have won the last two meetings between the two schools, when Vermont was ranked in the top 15. Prior to last year, Vermont won five straight.
Last Time Out
Graduate student Sokol Ymeraj scored a goal and added an assist in the Highlanders 2-1 home victory over visiting Binghamton in America East Conference men's soccer action at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
With the victory, NJIT earns two points, improving to 4-5-2 overall, 1-1 in the America East and 3-1-2 at home
This is the second straight match in which NJIT scored a pair of goals in the second half (last game vs. Delaware, T, 2-2) on October 1.

News & Notes
–Head coach Fernando Barboto begins his ninth season at NJIT after guiding the 2023 Highlanders to its fourth straight America East Tournament appearance and third America East semifinals, finishing with an overall record of 7-8-4 overall record, 3-2-2 in the America East.
–NJIT recorded two wins over nationally ranked Vermont last season – upset No. 15 Vermont (Oct. 7), the first time defeating a ranked team since 2015 and took down No. 14 Vermont, 2-1, for a second time in the same season in the 2023 #AEMSOC Quarterfinals.
–There will be a new face in goal for the Highlanders in 2024 after Samuel Reisgys, a three-time America East All-Academic team honoree concluded his five-year career at NJIT as the Highlanders all-time career saves leader with 304 career saves and played in his 78 career matches, which is a new NJIT DI career mark.
–NJIT features three goalkeepers on the 2024 roster: Devin Armstrong (transfer from Akron/Wake Forest), Sebastian Ibanez (transfer from Lincoln Memorial) and a true freshman Evan Chomow.
–Fifteen newcomers joined the Highlanders in 2024 (eight transfers and seven freshman)
–NJIT was voted to finish fifth in the 2024 America East Preseason Coaches Poll
Scouting Vermont
Vermont is currently riding a 10 match unbeaten streak, dating back to August 22. The Catamounts most recent victory came in the 84th minute on a goal from Yaniv Bazini, securing the 1-0 victory over UConn.
The Catamounts are scoring 2.27 goals-per game which ranks 12th nationally. In the last seven games Vermont has scored 21 goals.
Vermont is led by Maximillan Kissel who leads the America East with six goals, two assists and a league-best 14 points followed by Yaniv Bazini with five goals, two assists for 12 points. Goalkeeper Lou Liedtka has started eight matches and has combined for a 4-1-3 overall record with three shutouts. Liedtka leads the conference in save percentage (.810).
