NEWARK, N.J. – The NJIT women's volleyball team dropped its home America East match on Friday night to UAlbany in three sets.
Ines Varela notched five total blocks on the night, moving her to within just three of the career blocks record in NJIT women's volleyball history.
Set one was close throughout, but a late UAlbany run allowed them to take the early lead in the match. The Highlanders held a lead midway through set two and set three, but the Great Danes were able to rally back in both stanzas to take the match in straight sets.
Cece Marino picked up her third consecutive double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs.
Ema Torres paced NJIT on the attacking front with 12 kills and a .296 attack percentage.
Doga Emil capped off her night with a team-leading 13 digs to pair with five assists.
