WALTHAM, MA–The NJIT men's and women's fencing teams returned back to action on Saturday at the Eric Sollee Invitational hosted by Brandeis.
The NJIT men finished their day strong with a 3-1 mark, with wins over MIT, Brown and Boston College while the women's closest bouts came against Tufts and host Brandeis, falling short.
The saber squad combined for a 26-10 overall mark paced by Adrian Figuerdo (8-2), Allen Trudnos (7-1), Gonzalo Fernandez (5-2) and Christopher Cortez (6-5).
Ummi Green and Daniel Freeman each combined for five wins in the men's epee competition while Cristian Candescu registered a 5-4 (55.56) mark in the men's foil competition.
On the women's side, Dominika Pawlowska led the NJIT women in the epee competition with a 6-4 mark followed by Gala Krsmanovic with an 8-7 record.
The NJIT men will return to action on February 4 at the MACFA B Round Robin (hosted by Stevens) and the NJIT women will compete at the Stevens Invitational in Hoboken, NJ.
