EIVA Conference Official Release

NEWARK, NJ–Junior Alessandro Negri has been selected EIVA Defensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday.

In a 2-0 week for the Highlanders, Negri, who picks up his first weekly honor for the season, averaging, 4.38kps, combined for a .422 hitting percentage, averaged 1.50dps and 0.88bps.

Negri recorded nine kills, hit .267 to go along with four block assists and two digs in NJIT's 3-0 sweep over visiting King (TN).

In the Highlanders five-set victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, Negri tied his personal-best mark with a match-high 26 kills and finished with a .469 hitting percentage.  He added 10 digs.

Negri's 3.65kps  and 4.03pps both rank fourth in the EIVA.

Negri and the Highlanders will return home next weekend, hosting Lindenwood on January 19 at 7pm and No. 2 Long Beach State a day later at 7:30pm.
