NEWARK, NJ–NJIT women's basketball head coach Mike Lane announced the hiring of Camryn Johnson as Assistant Coach and the program's Director of Women's Basketball Operations.

Johnson joins the NJIT women's basketball staff after serving as a Graduate Assistant at The George Washington University for two seasons (2021-22; 2022-23).

"I am very excited to welcome Camryn to Highlander basketball," said sixth-year head coach Mike Lane. "Cam will coordinate all the operational duties for our team while also serving as an assistant coach.  This is the first time that this position will be able to aid with on-court training, competition preparation and in-game coaching as well as handle the administrative responsibilities of the program. It's a big job, but Cam is ready to take the wheel!"

Johnson earned her Masters of Science in Sports Management from George Washington in May 2023 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Francis Marion University in May 2021.

A four-year letterwinner, Johnson played three seasons at Francis Marion (2019-21) and one season at University of Louisiana Monroe (2017-18).

At Francis Marion, Johnson appeared in 65 games, including 30 starts for the Patriots. She is a three-time FMU Academic Honor Roll honoree (2019-21) and was named to the 2021 Peach Conference All-Academic Team.

"I am thankful for Coach Lane for giving me this opportunity to join his staff," said Johnson.  "I am super excited to be here and I am ready to get to work."

Johnson played at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Maryland and during her senior campaign was selected a McDonald's All-American nominee, earned All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Honorable Mention recognition and was selected to play in the Buffalo Wild Wings High School All-America game.

Johnson will join Lane, sixth-year Assistant Coach Aaron Gratch and second-year Assistant Coaches Colleen Moriarty and Payce Lange on the sidelines in 2023-24.
