CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The NJIT men's tennis season saw its season come to an end on Thursday, falling 4-1 to Lamar in the Southland Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
NJIT, seeded fourth in the eight-team event, finished 2023 with a 15-8 record, while #5 Lamar advances to Friday's semifinals with a 11-11 record.
Lamar got on the board first, earning the doubles point with a pair of victories at the #1 and #3 positions.
The Big Red clinched the match with three singles wins at #2, #5, and #6.
Pablo Perez Ramos finished his impressive redshirt freshman season in tremendous fashion, earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Max Amling at the #1 singles spot. Amling was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year on Wednesday, while Perez Ramos, who finished the season 18-3, didn't receive any postseason accolades.
