HOBOKEN, NJ–The NJIT men's fencing team went a perfect 4-0 at the MACFA B Round Robin led by freshman Adrian Figueredo who combined for an 11-1 mark hosted by Stevens Sunday afternoon inside the Cavanan Arena.
The Highlanders registered wins over – Yeshiva (26-1), Stevens (14-13), Army West Point (19-8) and Hunter (27-0).
Figueredo, a freshman from Guayama, Puerto Rico, combined for a 91.67% winning percentage behind the 11-1 performance in the saber competition. Christopher Cortez (saber) combined for nine wins for a 75% winning percentage. As a team, the saber squad went 29-9 on the day (75% winning percentage).
Sophomore Josh Schaefer led the foil squad with an 8-2 mark followed by Kevin Katayama (6-0), Cristian Candescu (6-1) and Robert Rountree (6-1). The foil combined for a 88.89 winning percentage notching a 32-4 record.
Freshman Niels Roubailo paced the epee squad with a 4-0 record while Daniel Jeun added two victories.
NJIT will return to action in two weeks at the MACFA B vs. C at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD on Sunday, February 19.
