NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT women's basketball team will look for a season series sweep against Binghamton on Wednesday in America East Conference action.

Game Information

All-Time Series
The all-time series is locked at 4-4.  Earlier this season, NJIT defeated Binghamton, 62-57, in Vestal, NY, behind three players in double-figures.

NJIT has won the last three games against Binghamton, which were decided by 10 or fewer points.

America East Conference
The Highlanders currently sit in fifth place in the America East standings with a 7-5 record while Binghamton sits in sixth place with a 6-6 mark.  This season, NJIT has wins over Binghamton, Bryant, and season series sweep against New Hampshire and UMass Lowell and most recently a big road win at Maine.

Coming off Big Road Win at Maine
Four Highlanders scored in double-figures led by a team-best 16 points from freshman Alejandra Zuniga as NJIT registered a big 56-54 road victory at Maine Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium at the Pit in America East women's basketball action.

The two teams split the season series as the Black Bears edged the Highlanders, 69-63, in Newark on January 7.

Zuniga, who scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half dished out four assists.  Senior Kenna Squier, the reigning America East Conference Player of the Week, just missed recording a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

America East Rookie of the Week
Freshman Alejandra Zuniga picked up her third America East Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week honor the league office announced on Monday.

In a 1-1 week for the Highlanders, Zuniga averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

The 5-foot-6 guard from Madrid, Spain, finished with 13 points, four steals and three assists in a three-point home loss to UMBC.

She combined for 16 points, four assists and three rebounds in a road win at Maine on Saturday.  Zuniga was also named AEHoops BIG TIME Performer, marking the second honor this season.

Scouting Binghamton
Binghamton enters Wednesday's contest with a 13-12 overall record and 6-6 in the America East.  The Bearcats, who recently won three straight, dropped an overtime loss to UAlbany on Saturday, 63-53.

The Bearcats have three players averaging double-digits paced by Denai Bowman (12.6), Ella Wanzer (11.8) and Genevieve Coleman (10.6).  Bowman ranks in the top six in scoring.

Clare Traeger paces the Bearcats on the boards (8.8) while Bowman leads the team with 23 total blocks.  Traeger ranks second in the America East in rebounding behind Adrianna Smith from Maine (9.3).

NJIT will play its next two games on the road, first visiting Vermont on Saturday, February 18 at 2pm and Bryant on Wednesday, February 22.
