NEWARK, NJ–The NJIT men's soccer team will play in its third America East Conference semifinal match on Wednesday, November 8 when No. 5 NJIT visits No. 1 New Hampshire.

Two Wins Over Vermont a Nationally Ranked Top 15 Team
NJIT upset then-ranked No. 15 Vermont on October 7, 1-0, for the program's first win over a United Soccer Coaches top-25 team since 2015 and the Highlanders took down No. 14 Vermont in the America East Quarterfinals, 2-1, on November 4, for the programs second win over the Catamounts this season.

Game Information
The match will be played at Wildcat Stadium on the campus of New Hampshire with kickoff slated for 6pm on ESPN+.  In-game statistics will be available on UNHWildcats.com.

All-Time Series
​​UNH leads the all-time series 3-0.  Wednesday will be the first postseason meeting between the two teams.  Earlier this season, then-ranked No. 19 UNH topped the Highlanders, 2-1, on October 21.

The America East is ranked #5 as a conference behind the Pac-12, ACC, Sun Belt and Big Ten. The America East currently has five teams in the top-65 of RPI. New Hampshire ranks fifth, Bryant (21st), Vermont (24th), NJIT (42nd) and UMBC (66th).

Tied for 9th in the Nation in Assists
Sophomore Maximus Barboto, the 2022 America East Conference Rookie of the Year, sits tied for ninth in the nation in assists with 9. 

The nine assists in a single season is a new NJIT Division I record and his 13 career assists ranks fifth all-time in the NJIT Division I era.

Graduate Student Goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys
Goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys, the Highlanders all-time career saves leader with 298 career saves, played in his 77 career match, surpassing Rene White '21 (76) and becoming the NJIT DI leader in career matches.

NJIT News & Notes 

• Saturday, November 4 marked the fourth straight America East Tournament appearance and seventh conference tournament berth for the Highlanders under eighth-year head coach Fernando Barboto. 

• The Highlanders will compete in its third America East Conference semifinal match on Wednesday, November 8.

• As a team, the Highlanders have scored 26 goals this season the most since the 2021 season when the Highlanders scored 31.

• Tri-captain Goncalo Franco tabs America East Offensive Player of the Week and United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week (Sept. 6)

• Maximus Barboto picked up three weekly honors after tallying four assists in a pair of Highlanders wins La Salle (3-2; Sept. 12) and Sacred Heart (4-0; Sept. 16).  Barboto became the first Highlander player to be named to both Team of the Week publications.

• Two wings over Nationally Ranked Vermont: Upset No. 15 Vermont (Oct. 7) – First time defeating ranked team since 2015; Took down No. 14 Vermont, 2-1, in the #AEMSOC Quarterfinals 

• Samuel Reisgys America East Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 9) after shutting out then-ranked No. 15 Vermont.

Scouting the Wildcats from New Hampshire

• New Hampshire enters Wednesday's contest as the top-seed in the #AEMSOC Tournament and ranked nationally at No. 5 as of November 5, 2023 per NCAA.

• UNH is currently ranked No.11 by the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

• The Wildcats were crowned America East Conference Regular Season Champions for the fifth consecutive season.

• The Wildcats are 9-0-3 over the last 12 games, and have won five straight.

• Graduate student Eli Goldman leads the team with 16 points and eight goals. Graduate student Bilal Kamal follows with 14 points and leads the team in assists with six. 

• Graduate student Joseba Incera is ranked 10th in the nation with a .622 goals against average.
